THE NERVES - NOTRE DEMO LP

The Nerves - Notre Demo LP
Newry, 1981, Good Vibrations, LP

Never usually put GV stuff up on here, however this incredibly short lived band only released one album as a one off run of 1500 records, so chances to hear it are far and slim, and that my friends is a tragedy. This album is amazing, weird melodic punk with a lot of leanings towards the Radiatiors and I can even hear some Lizzy in the bass. These songs are perfectly formed fucking gems. Seriously, if you like the proto punk sound with some 70's rock influence this is for you.

CROWD CONTROL - DEMO 2007

Crowd Control - Demo 2007
Dublin, 2007, DIY, Tape

1st Demo from CC here, blistering, angry as fuck hardcore..since this demo came out they've gone from strength to strength and I really feel they are one of the best hardcore bands ever to come out of Ireland. Excellent.

GOUT - FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH TAPE

Gout - For What It's Worth Tape
Kilkenny/Dublin, 1993, DIY, Tape

Atmospheric as fuck, pummelling as fuck, and with songs that stick in you head for weeks. Great to have this tape upped as Gout seem to hold a particularly fond memory for most of those who saw them, just wish I had! Thanks to Anto Loserdom for the tape.

SKINT - IN THE FIRING LINE ALBUM

Skint - In The Firing Line Album
Dublin, 1998,Walzwerk , CD

Delighted to finally have this up on the blog! Excellent Streetpunk/Oi! from the mid/late 90's. However this isn't just your run of the mill Oi, some excellent guitar parts and the vocals are brilliantly arranged around the tunes, each song is different and hooks you in. I have great memories of seeing these guys in the Temple around 99'/00', great live, great album.

VICTIM - THE TEEN AGE EP

Victim - The Teen Age EP
Belfast, 1980, Illuminated Records, 7"

Cracking band from up North again, although these guys relocated to Manchester sometime around 79. Listening to it I can perhaps see why they chose Manchester, coming off like a harder edged Buzzcocks, there is also something a little New York Dolls-esque about the guitar at points. 3 tracks in all.

THE DAGDA - AN ENDLESS BETRAYAL LP

The Dagda - An Endless Betrayal LP
Belfast, Louth, Dublin, 2006 , Ruin Nation Records, LP

2nd and final full lengther from the beast that was The Dagda. More epic melodic crust goodness. This album in particular is unrelenting and its heft doesn't let up for a minute, enjoy.

ZAFARANCHOS - NEED MORE TIME EP

Zafaranchos - Need More Time EP
Donegal, 2009 , DIY, CD

Confirming what most of the population of Ireland have thought for years, Donegal is one weird and unusual place and hailing from there Zafaranchos are no exception to that train of thought. Scuzzy punk n roll, with loads of attitude and a really excellent guitar sound, laid back, choppy but then springing into spastic action at the drop of a hat. Great sounding recording altogether and the title song 'Need More Time' is the perfect mix of the Germs and The Stooges in my mind.

SEPTIC PUSSY - UP YOUR MA'S GASH EP

Septic Pussy - Up Your Ma's Gash EP
Dublin, 2007 , Rat City Records, CD

This is the sound of a young Dublin punk band, it is as simple as, and as brilliant as that. It seems to smack of the same influences of life around Dublin that all the classic Dublin Punk bands did. To be honest Septic Pussy have been kind of refreshing to me in that they don't seem to be trying to emulate a million and one yank bands and seem content to be themselves. Looking forward to hearing more over the years, and I was wrong about the name when they started out, it actually kinda works for me now!

The Faders - Cheatin'/Library Book 7"
ROI,1979 , Rip Off Records, 7"

Not able to find out too much about this release online but delighted to have got my bands on rips of it. I dunno what it is about Ireland and the catchy poppunk gems that came out of here but these two songs are a cracker. Essential.

JOBBYKRUST - DISCOGRAPHY

Jobbykrust Discography
Belfast, 1990-97,Various

This has been available online for a while but I thought I'd put it up here for anyone who hasn't got it yet. What can I say about Jobbykrust? Probably one of the better known Irish crust bands around the world, a rake of releases, a ton of gigs and its all nicely put together in this nice posthumous download. Comes with a nice pdf history written by Tim, 45 songs in all, this is fucking epic.

THE DOUBT - S/T EP

The Doubt - S/T EP
Bangor, 1980, Solo Records, 7"

What was with Northern Ireland and the amount of sheer brillaint pop punk bands that came out of there in the late 70's and early 80's?! A lot of the Nordie stuff I'm a bit wary of sticking up here as it was on larger labels who as far as I know aren't very keen on this sort of blogging. Anyway only 500 copies of the this 7" were released and apparently up to 200 copies were list or destroyed. Amazing melodies, this is pop punk exactly as it should sound, if anyone wants to do a band just like this and let me sing let me know! Oh yeah and I nicked this from the Killed by Death blog, such a great blog.
