V/A - RESPECT IS NOT A WORD!

Various - Respect Is Not A Word!
Dublin, 1998, Brotherhood Of One, CD

Finally got around to putting this comp up. Brotherhood of One was a short run zine in the late 90's, I picked up my copy of this zine with the free cd in virgin recordstore in Tallaght of all places when it came out. Excellent comp here with 2 songs from Striknien D.C, one of Gouts best tunes ever 'Let Em Off', a cracking Waltons tune and a cover of Hops & Barley by the mighty Steampig. 6 songs in all.

SHEEP DIP - DEMO

Sheep Dip - Demo
Wicklow/Dublin, 2009, DIY, CD

Oh Christ why did this band only release one demo, play a handful of shows and then break up?! Damn, the good ones never last too long. Well at least this 4 track demo stands as a testament to the heft of this band. Sure you could say its totally 'dystopia' crust/sludge worship but that is certainly not a bad thing in my book. If you never heard of these you would be a fool to not download it.

ONLY FUMES & CORPSES - S/T EP

Only Fumes & Corpses - Self Titled EP
Galway, 2005, DIY, CD

Only Fumes & Corpses 1st EP! What is with Galway and unusual band names? I have loved this cd to death, my copy became fucked from too many plays in the car so thanks to Dan for sending this one on. Melodic uptempo hardcore with thoughtful and not your run of the mill lyrics, Momme is also one of my favourite front men out there. These guys have a new album out now on Lockjaw Records, get ittttt.

FUKTIFINO - THE SECRET CONFESSIONS OF...EP

Fuktifino - The Secret Confessions Of...EP
Galway, 2000, Seventh Son Music, CD

Ahh Fuktifino so many great gigs, so many great memories and one of my favourite front men that has ever graced an Irish band in Kollin. At the time this band came out there were far too many people standing still and singing whereas Kollin put his passion and heart right into this band and would be jumping on and off tables, amps, punters, whatever no matter what anyone thought. This E.P is soo good, to me 'Mouth' is the stand out tune, they have a kinda poppy-hardcore sound for want of a better description. Look its fucking punk okay?!

THE BOY YOU HIT IS DEAD - S/T EP

The Boy You Hit Is Dead - S/T EP
Galway, 2005, DIY, CD

Would you believe it, almost 200 things uploaded to this blog and this is the first band from galway represented. Thanks to Dan for passing me on a load of Galway stuff for the blog, I know one man doesn't make a scene but over the past fifteen years the scene in Galway I honestly don't think would've reached the levels its at now if it wasn't for the hard work of people like Dan, nice one. Anyway first up is the amazingly titled The Boy You Hit Is Dead who were described as noisecore and/or metallic hardcore. All I know is they had a serious fucking groove and I loved it.

TOTAL WAR - DEMO CD

Total War - Demo CD
Dublin, 2010, DIY, CD

Siege/Deep Wound worship says it all. This 4 track demo is over before it even begins, nasty, nasty, nasty stuff. I fucking love it and am delighted to hear this one man project is to become a live band.

THE BLIND - LIFE & DEATH EP

The Blind - Life & Death EP
Dublin, 2010, DIY, CD

Only recently released I must say this two track ep is their best work to date, seriously its an absolute stormer. Brilliant to see musical acts as tight and passionate as these guys quite obviously are. Download it.

THE BLIND - CONSTANT FEAR EP

The Blind - Constant Fear EP
Dublin, 2009, DIY, CD

Second EP from this excellent hardcore band. They have a split 7" coming out soon on Suburban Mayhem soon enough, should be a cracker.

THE BLIND - CATHEDRAL EP

The Blind - Cathedral EP
Dublin, 2009, DIY, CD

Downloaded this demo a while ago but never got around to listening to it. However I got to see this band for the first time last weekend and I must say they blew me away. Modern sounding hardcore but more stripped down with incredibly tight riffs and the vocals/lyrics smack of integrity (not the band!) and purpose. This was their first release
