V/A - THE DIRT BEHIND THE DAYDREAM VOL. 2 TAPE

Various - The Dirt Behind The daydream Volume 2 Tape
Dublin, 1991, FOAD, Cassette

The elusive volume two uploaded at last and what a gem it is. A whopper of a compilation featuring songs from the following, Arnheim, Dismal Abysmals, Ciunas, SMH, Stigmatamartyr, Coitus, Paranoid Visions, Brinskill Bomb Beat and 'Sleep With The Beaver'! I have to say the Stigmatamartyr tracks really stood out for me on this one, more of that please. Thanks again to Jay for sorting this one out for me.

ARNHEIM - LOOK WHAT THE FUNNY MAN DID TAPE

Arnheim - Look What The Funny Man Did Tape
Dublin, 1992, FOAD, Cassette

Finally get this gem up here. Arnheim had their own unusual dark, manic, paranoid punk style, mixing in elements of various 80s punk and post punk bands. Thanks to Jay for sending this on, great sound quality.

MIDNITE CRUISER - RICH BITCH/STRIKER 7"

Midnite Cruiser - Rich Bitch bw Striker 7"
Co. Antrim, 1977, IT, 7 inch

Fairly rare early IT records release, great power pop/pop punk. Think this may have been their only release, featuring Paul Maxwell later of the Tearjerkers

CONTORT - ENDLESS MYOPIC BASTARDS TAPE

Contort - Endless Myopic Bastards Tape
Dublin, 2011, Headwrecker/Distroy, Cassette

I can't really be totally objective about this as I sing in this band, so here is Agitate Zines opinion..."this is an overwhelming assault of ear molesting raw noise punk...The Japanese influence of bands like GAI and Confuse is very much apparent. The reverbed vocals..reminding me of 'Perdition' era Disorder but at the same time having a very dark and at times atmospheric feel to them".

HELLPPPP!!!

Okay so it has been a while since I have uploaded anything to the archive and also a while since I have been actively searching for new stuff to throw up. To put it quite simply I haven’t had enough time to do this properly. So basically what I am looking for is a few helpful people who want work on the archive with me. Whether its just responding to emails, taking stuff that has been sent to the blog and upping it to the blog, scanning old flyers.zines, ripping old tapes/records/cds and/or sourcing them, flyering at gigs, even someone who would be willing to give the archive a bit of a makeover. So if anyone is interested in helping in anyway (even if they are unsure how to help!) please send me on an email to diyirishhardcorepunkarchive@gmail.com

The Bloody Mutants - Self Titled 7" + 8 unreleased tracks!

Straight up fast fun punk fuckin rock from these Wicklow boys. There is 6 tracks on the 7" and thanks a million to Alan for sending on the 8 unreleased tracks for everyones enjoyment, he also did an excellent job on EQ'n the tracks :)

THE DIRGE - THE PURSUIT OF SUICIDE EP

The Dirge - The Pursuit Of Suicide EP
Dublin, 2011, DIY, Download

Apologies to The Dirge lads for not getting this up sooner, but alas it is finally here. The Dirge are a young Dublin band playing a mix of hardcore and skacore. Four tracks on this EP, one being a Choking Victim cover, gives you an idea of the direction this band are heading towards, however to me the stand out track is Birth, Waste, Death which is a really well structured slowed down hardcore tune that reminds me of Moss Icon or Born Against. I dunno if that's what they were planning on but its comes of fucking great. I have only seen these guys once and am looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

THE SWEAT - NO MORE RUNNING LP

The Sweat - No More Running LP
Belfast, 1980, Double D records, LP

Not sure how exactly I ended up being ignorant of this record for years, soon as I got a rip of this I listened to it three times back to back, which is pretty good for someone with an attention span like mine. This is power pop tastic, almost seems like a concept album about a breakup or something, anyway a fucking gem.

CRAMP - SHE DOESN'T LOVE ME/SUZY LIE DOWN 7"

Cramp - She Doesn't Love Me b/w Suzy Lie Down
Portrush, Co. Antrim, 1979, Rip Off Records, 7"

Dunno how I haven't got around to putting this one up yet, this truly is one of my favourite NI punk records of all time. Suzy Lie Down is such an amazing power-pop/pop-punk tune. Just download it already!

ABNORMAL - FINANCIAL DISASTERS DEMO

Abnormal - 'Financial Disasters' Demo Tape 7"
Dublin, 1984, DIY, Tape

Thanks a million to Pat (drummer) for sending on this four track demo of the mighty Abnormal. These four tracks of uptempo punk rock were recorded in September 1984 and released as a demo tape, the song 'Tribal War' is a stand out track and I guess quite topical for the time considering what I know about the punk scene in Ireland in the early 80's. I love unearthing stuff like this, that is what the blog is all about. Keep on sending stuff on to me people :)

TINOPENERS - SET ME FREE/I'M NOT YOUR TYPE 7"

Tinopeners - Set Me Free bw I'm Not Your Type 7"
Belfast, 1979, Logo Records, 7inch

Anyone even vaguely familiar with Northern Irish power pop and pop punk from the late 70's is probably already familiar with 'Set Me Free' which is an absolute gem. The b-side is not to be overlooked either. This band apparently recorded another 7" that was never released, fucking tragedy really. Also this has recently been reissued on Sing Sing Records.

VARIOUS - RAISINS & VOMIT - FOUR BANDS FROM DUBLIN VOL. 2

Raisins & Vomit - Four Bands From Dublin Volume 2.
Dublin, 1994, Ratfish Records, 7inch

Four songs in all here, I'm sure at least two would suit those who may frequent this page. The criminally amazing Pincher Martin being the real stand out track alongside Female Hercules stomper 'Firepower'. Must get more Female Hercules stuff up on the blog in time, as long as it don't piss no-one off! Out of the other two bands featured Cruiser and The Knocking Shop, the latter whose track, 'Before Again' being the stronger of the two.

PINK TURDS IN SPACE / SEDITION SPLIT LP

Pink Turds In Space/Sedition split LP
Belfast/Scotland, 1990, Reel to Real Records, Lp

Although I know I put up the Pink Turds Discog a while back, humour my completest view of these things so here is the Pink Turds In Space split with the excelleant Sedition from Scotland :)

BREAKFALL - WORDS SO SOFTLY SPOKEN MCD

Breakfall - Words So Softly Spoken MCD
Northern Ireland, 1998, Strength In An Age Of Weakness Records, CD

A rarity for Ireland, especially in the late 90's, a SXE hardcore band. Features a member of that other infamous Irish SXE band Circle Again. Well recorded and it does whip me back to the sort of hardcore I was listening to in the late 90's :) Thanks to George of the excellent xxx Irish Edge xxx blog for sending this on.

Down In The Hole Zine - Issues 1 & 2
Ireland, Nov 88' and Feb 89', DIY, Zine

Thanks to Tommy for sending me on the pdf's of this late 80's Ireland zine with a very international slant. I also love how this zine contains crosswords, you fucking never get that in zines now! "Down in the Hole was a zine done mostly by Dave and Michael from Three RRing Psychosis/Killercrust with some limited input from me from 1988/89. Focused mostly on the international HC scene of the time it had other bits and pieces including prose contributions from Smeggy Angus. #2 has a short story in Angus' Sven Hassel style.

Interviews include Ripcord, Ooperation Ivy, Larm, Stikky, So Much Hate, No Comment, 7 Minutes of nausea etc." - Tommy Trousers

CONTORT - AN ISLAND OF NOISE IN AN ISLAND OF SILENCE TAPE

Contort - An Island Of Noise In An Island Of Silence
Dublin, 2010, Distroy Records/DIY, Tape

No way am I gonna write the description for this one! This is a band that I am delighted to have been involved with over the past year. This 8 track demo is now sold out, recorded on 4 track by J.Grimes in the Karate Club practice space, this is as noisy as noisy punk can be :) The following is taken from a description of the band by our good friend Jeri from Black Seeds Records (Malaysia). "Hailing from Dublin, Ireland. This cute yellow tape providing 8 tracks of wall of noise and chainsaw buzzing guitar! The vocal always reminds me of Taff from DISORDER. Opening tracks with slow intro and there you go, listener will having a earache if they got a chance to see them live. If you into GAI, CONFUSE, SWANKYS, GLOOM and old DISORDER you probably love this tape. Recorded using 4-track machine thats the way raw noise punk should be done."
